Mojo Elite’s Free Practice Event: A Day of Skill, Dedication, and UCI Women’s Basketball

The outdoor court buzzes with energy as young athletes watch intently while a skilled UCI women's basketball player demonstrates advanced shooting techniques. Laughter and encouragement echo as they take turns practicing, building both their basketball skills and a sense of camaraderie.

Irvine, CA – March 30th, 2025 – Mojo Elite, the community-driven organization dedicated to offering elite-level basketball training and mentorship to young athletes, recently hosted a highly successful free practice event that brought together over 50 local youth athletes for an unforgettable day of basketball. The event, which took place on March 30th, provided young players with the unique opportunity to improve their skills, engage with top-tier trainers, and connect with their peers in a supportive environment.

The event was a resounding success, with participants showing exceptional energy and enthusiasm as they worked on essential basketball skills. From ball handling and shooting drills to defensive techniques and game strategy, the young athletes made the most of every moment. The excitement was palpable, and the spirit of teamwork and growth filled the court.

A Collaborative Effort: UCI Women’s Basketball Players Lead the Way

One of the standout moments of the day was the invaluable involvement of the UCI Women’s Basketball Team. Under the leadership of Moulayna Johnson, Founder of Mojo Elite, and Hunter Hernandez, Co-Founder of Mojo Elite, the event was led by UCI Women’s Basketball players, who volunteered their time to run the practice and share their expert knowledge.

The UCI Women’s Basketball players worked directly with the young athletes, guiding them through a series of drills designed to enhance their basketball skills. From teaching advanced footwork and shooting techniques to providing insights on what it takes to succeed at the Division I level, the UCI team’s participation was an incredible learning opportunity for every athlete. Their leadership and commitment to youth development made the event even more special.

“We are so grateful to the UCI Women’s Basketball players for their time and dedication,” said Moulayna Johnson, Founder of Mojo Elite. “Their involvement added incredible value to the event. It’s a rare opportunity for young athletes to train alongside Division I players, and we’re honored to provide that experience.”

Mojo Elite: A Vision for Community and Athlete Development

As the Founder of Mojo Elite, Moulayna Johnson envisioned the organization as a platform to provide top-tier basketball training while fostering mentorship and community. Mojo Elite’s mission is to help young athletes develop both their athletic skills and their character, preparing them for success both on and off the court.

Hunter Hernandez, Co-Founder of Mojo Elite and a one-time All-Big West First Team honoree, has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s mission. Her experience as a Division I athlete fuels her passion for mentoring the next generation of players. “At Mojo Elite, we’re about more than just basketball skills,” said Hernandez. “We want to teach young athletes the value of hard work, dedication, and the importance of mentorship. It’s about building confidence both on and off the court. Seeing young players develop a love and excitement for not only basketball but also themselves is the most rewarding part of this all.”
